Since April (After the passage of FOSTA/SESTA) our work has looked differently and has shifted towards more towards care giving and supporting those directly impacted — namely Black & Brown Trans Women with housing and finding housing, emergency care support, jail and legal support, meals, and over the summer started the Organizer In Training Project — providing stipends to Black and Brown Trans Women to learn how to organize and to advocate on their issues. This work of solidarity and mutual aid is so necessary and required in order to support our communities under attack, but it’s not enough.
In the wake of not only the Trump Administration's recent announcement of its intent to legally erase trans identities from U.S. law as well as his decision to appoint Eric Dreiband - a lawyer who fought against trans access to public bathrooms in North Carolina - as Head of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division.
This is why we are stepping it up in the New Years, we will continue feeding, providing organizing stipends, meals, jail & legal support, housing and finding housing for critically impacted Trans, Non-Binary and Two Spirit people of color and we will be taking the streets strategically with direct action and creative resistance. This is why we can’t fall short.
